New Necklaces showcases the current trends in contemporary jewellery through the works created by 180 artists from 40 countries and a wide variety of styles, from classic forms and materials to the most audacious and surprising ideas. And, as their predecessors in history, each one of the more than 400 creations included in this book is unique and relates strongly to today’s social, cultural and artistic reality.
Nicolas Estrada (Medellín, 1972) is the author of five books in the jewelry series published in various languages, French and Italian being two of them, by Promopress and distributed worldwide: Rings, Earrings, Necklaces, Brooches and now Bracelets - 400 new designs in contemporary jewelry. He carried out his studies in Barcelona, in the Llotja and Massana schools. It was in this city where he discovered his art. Since 2018 he has given workshops and conferences at Universities and art centers in England, Germany and the United States, and in 2019 he is the invited artist to represent Colombia at the international World Art Tokyo fair. In 2022, the College of Jewelers of Catalonia, in recognition of his contribution to the field, awarded him with the "artisan award". The themes that Nicolás Estrada takes as inspiration for his pieces directly address the humanity and sensitivity of his observers. For Nicolás, each jewel is loaded with immense power and value, which translates into an intimate dialogue between the object and the gaze of the other. Tireless researcher with great curiosity and passion for his profession.
